Vietfish - Welfare Session

The “Improving Farmed Fish Welfare in Asia” project participated in a special session organised by the Eurogroup for Animals at Vietfish in Ho Chi Minh City on 24th August. The session was titled “Happy Fish for Happy Business and the EU Free Trade Agreement”. Simão Zacharias presented our project via video link and other research partners spoke about their research plans.

Dr Simão Zacharias presented his work on the benefits of not ablating shrimp broodstock

Dr Cuong Hoang Van from the Vietnam Institute of Fisheries Economics and Planning presented their project on mapping welfare issues in the Vietnam shrimp value chain.

Dr Kha from Community College of Đồng Tháp presented their planned project on Operational Welfare Indicators for pangasius catfish

Dr Long Pham Kim of Tra Vinh presented their project looking at aquatic animal welfare gaps in the Vietnamese education system
