 Dimitar Taskov - completed his PhD in Aquaculture looking at the competitiveness of major European aquaculture fisheries commodities. Part of his research was funded by the European Commission and conducted within the scope of the Horizon 2020 PrimeFish project, identifying strategies for improving the economic performance and sustainability of the European aquaculture and fisheries sectors. Dimitar received his BSc in Aquaculture and MSc in Aquaculture and Development at the University of Stirling, where as part of his studies he conducted research on socio-economic aspects of small-scale integrated aquaculture-agriculture farms in Bangladesh on the environmental impacts of cage aquaculture and in major water bodies in Indonesia. Dimitar was involved in the Darwin Sherbro Oyster Project in Sierra Leone and the EU funded GAIN project, as well as in various consultancy projects. His main research interests are poverty alleviation, food security, ecosystems integrity and the role sustainable aquaculture can play in achieving these objectives. He is currently working for FAO as a Fish Value Chain Expert.
