Danielle Maitland is Director of Science and Cultivation Technology at Aqualitas Inc. in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, a licensed producer of organic-certified cannabis, grown using koi in a proprietary aquaponics system. Danielle is also a PhD student at Dalhousie University, focusing on fish nutrition, cannabis cultivation and solid waste processing in aquaponics.
Danielle is a licensed Professional Engineer, entitled to practice in Nova Scotia. She obtained her MSc in Sustainable Aquaculture from the University of Stirling in 2018, and a Horticulturist Diploma from the University of Guelph in 2019. She also has an MASc in Chemical Engineering (2014) and a BSc in Chemical Engineering and Biosciences (2012), both from McMaster University.
